How do I download VPNCheap on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV?
Use your own Apple ID for a region outside mainland China. Free, no card needed, about 5 minutes.
VPNCheap isn't available on the mainland China App Store, so it can't be found with a mainland China Apple ID. Sign in to the App Store with your own Apple ID for another region and you can download it.
Free and no card required. You only switch the App Store account — your photos, iCloud and chats are untouched. The account is yours alone, so it won't be locked by other people signing in.
Please don't use a "shared Apple ID" from someone else. Accounts used by many people get locked by Apple easily and can lock your device or expose your data.
What you need
- An email address that has never been used for an Apple ID
- Your phone number for the verification code
- A region, e.g. United States, Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore
Steps
1Sign out of the App Store
Open Settings → your name at the top → Media & Purchases and tap Sign Out.
Only sign out of Media & Purchases — don't sign out of the Apple ID at the top (iCloud), so your photos and contacts stay put.
2Create a new account in the App Store
Open the App Store, tap your profile icon and choose Create New Apple ID (called "Create New Apple Account" on some iOS versions).
Pick the region you chose, enter your new email and a password only you know, and your real date of birth (18+).
3Choose "None" for payment
On the Payment Method page choose None. Enter a correctly formatted address for that region as the billing address.
If "None" isn't shown: cancel, then in the App Store tap Get on any free app first, and choose Create New Apple ID from the sign-in prompt — "None" will appear.
4Verify your email and phone
Apple emails you a code and texts another to your phone. Enter them and your account is ready.
Check your spam folder if the email doesn't arrive; tap Resend for the text.
5Search for VPNCheap and install
Back in the App Store, check you're signed in with the new account, search VPNCheap and tap Get.
Open the app and sign in with your VPNCheap account. On Apple TV, sign in to the App Store with the same Apple ID and search VPNCheap.
You can switch back afterwards. Go to Settings → your name → Media & Purchases, sign out, and sign in with your usual account. VPNCheap keeps working; switch to the new account only when you want to update it.
FAQ
"This Apple ID has not yet been used in the iTunes Store"?
That's normal for a new account. Tap Review, follow the prompts and choose None for payment.
Can't find VPNCheap?
Make sure the App Store shows the new account and that you picked one of the regions above. Fully close and reopen the App Store, then search again.
Will this affect my photos or chats?
No. Step 1 only signs out of Media & Purchases; iCloud and your data are untouched.
Updating asks for another account's password?
Updates need the Apple ID the app was downloaded with. Switch to the account you created and update.
